In a bid to bolster their mutual interests, Qatar and Egypt have pledged to enhance their bilateral relations and deepen cooperation across several key areas, including the economy, investment, and labor sectors. This commitment was underscored during a meeting between Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, and Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdelatty. The discussions took place in Cairo alongside the seventh session of the Qatari-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee.
The meeting highlighted the significant growth in economic ties between the two nations, marked by an impressive 80 percent increase in trade by 2025. Both officials expressed satisfaction with the ongoing expansion of Qatari investments in Egypt, particularly noting a sustainable aviation fuel production project within the Suez Canal Economic Zone as a key development. This initiative underscores the strategic economic partnership between the two countries.
In addition to economic matters, the discussions covered labor and consular cooperation and focused on regional issues. Both sides reiterated their commitment to reducing tensions and promoting stability in the area, emphasizing the need for continued collaboration on the situation in Gaza. They reaffirmed their support for diplomatic solutions as a means to resolve regional disputes, highlighting their shared vision for a more stable and peaceful region.
Maritime security and freedom of navigation were also central to the dialogue, with both countries recognizing their importance in safeguarding international trade routes and ensuring regional stability. The strategic waterways of the Arabian Gulf and Red Sea were particularly noted as areas where enhanced cooperation could yield significant benefits.
